The IdN Animé book project pays homage to the influence and style of Japanese animation. However, in this project, instead of artists interpreting a \"Day in the Life of Neo-Tokyo\" Freestyle Collective asked us to interpret what a day in the Life of Neo New York would be like.
The Assignment was to give thought to the films Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Animatrix. So this is what the Neo-New York world of 2019 could look like - in my imagination. Its futuristic, post-apocalyptic and definitely neon-lit.
It will be published in book format and sometime in Spring 2009 Freestyle Collective will also display the pieces in a show.
This is one of my favorite pieces of all time! Just...EVERYTHING is AMAZING! Absolutely flawless! The Style of art(although i'm not to sure of what the style is called) is my favorite. It fills me with the best emotions. You are an artist. To convey a message and emotions that only you felt for some time to others makes you a great artist...Get what im trying to say?
Anyway... I really want to learn to do that style of art... any pointers? My block of art has passed and im jumping into all the mediums that I love!
-you're one of the inspiring artists to bring me out of the 3 year block...thank you a lifetime
I hate going artsy in my praise, it makes me look like a know-it-all, but what the hell:
I like the mix of the weak greys and the vivid florescent pinks in the scene, the neon present everywhere gives a jaunty effect that is balanced by the rain, and the perspective is two fold in its effect: Firstly making the subject look smaller and therefore vunerable, and the buildings look bigger and therefore overwhelming. The imaginative view of the future is refreshing, as it is neither overly utopian or apocalyptic in its outlook, but a kind of more advanced version of today. Although this is mitigated slightly by the floating tower in the background.

The world is a comedy for those who do,
or a tragedy for those who feel :>
